About NebiOS X rc4 Reviews

The RC4 feedback had a big impact on how NebiOS X evolved. In this post, I talk about what the community helped improve, the upcoming quality-of-life updates (10.1, 10.2), and the long-term vision for NebiOS 11. Also, a reminder that NebiOS is built entirely by a single independent developer — no team, no funding, just passion.

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you for all the reviews and constructive feedback you shared about NebiOS X RC4 (except the “just another Ubuntu theme” one — that one was entirely unfair 😄).

Your insights helped shape the upcoming quality-of-life updates for NebiOS X and strongly influenced my roadmap for NebiOS 11.

RC4 revealed details I had overlooked and showed me where further polish was needed — and I truly appreciate that.

What’s Coming After NebiOS X 10.0

After the final 10.0 release on November 1, 2025, NebiOS X will continue to evolve through smaller updates like 10.1 and 10.2 — not just with fixes, but also with fresh, meaningful content.

Expect things like new comic episodes, sticker packs, and subtle UI improvements that make daily use smoother.

Beyond that, here are a few highlights from the roadmap:

* Bundle Store & napp-runtime overhauls

The Bundle Store will be completely rewritten.

On the napp-runtime side, a content hash verification system will be introduced (for Store apps only), along with pre-verified permission sets for manifest-validated apps.

These are meant to improve both security and user experience.

* Launcher integration & customization

The Launcher will integrate more deeply with system services — you’ll be able to search and install apps directly without opening the Store.

It will also gain lightweight customization features, such as adjustable icon sizes.

(And yes — if the icons look big, that’s because NebiOS X was initially designed with the NebiPad tablet project in mind, which was later cancelled this year due to local political factors.)

* More ecosystem apps

I can’t spoil much yet — surprises are better when unexpected — but tighter NebiSoft ecosystem integrations are coming.

Looking Toward NebiOS 11

As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, NebiOS 11 will introduce a refreshed design language.

However, the default layout will remain consistent.

This is intentional — I want NebiOS to feel unified across PC, VR, mobile, and tablet platforms.

Traditional layouts inspired by Windows or other OSes tend to limit that flexibility.

If you have creative ideas that fit this vision, feel free to share them on Discord.

A Gentle Reminder

NebiOS is not “just another Ubuntu theme.”

It’s a fully custom system that includes its own technologies — most notably napp-runtime and the NebiDE desktop, both deeply integrated at the core level.

And please remember — NebiOS and all of this work are built by a single independent developer.

There’s no team, no funding, no company behind me — just one person doing their best to make something different.

So before rushing to criticize, keep that in mind.

I keep coming up with new ideas every day — and while implementing them all at once would kill the project, the long-term vision lives on through patience and persistence.

Best regards,

Sarp M.

Developer of NebiOS
